Dr Amit Bery graduated his M.B.B.S from Guru Gobind Singh Medical college, Faridkot, Punjab in November 1998. He joined his postgraduate in Internal Medicine in Dayanand
Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana in October 2001. After completion of his MD in November 2004, he continued working as Senior Resident in the Department of Medicine, till 2006. He also worked as an emergency consultant for around an year in Dayanand Medical College and Hospital .
He joined as Assistant Professor in the Medicine department on 2nd November 2007. He was then subsequently promoted to the post of Associate professor and then to post of Professor in 2023.
During his long career of 23 years in DMC, he has held various positions. He was appointed as the Nodal coordinator for swine flu and Tuberculosis in DMC&H. He played an active role in NABH coordination committee. He worked actively during Covid pandemic and was part of the active task force.
On the academic front he took active part in teaching of medical undergraduates and postgraduates.He has presented many national and international papers and posters. He has supervised 15 MD thesis, ICMR research projects and participated in 4 multinational clinical trials and published 30 articles in various journals and chapter in books. His paper ,”Nutritional status in compensated alcoholic cirrhotics in North India “presented in the 45th annual meeting of the American College of Nutrition in California, America in 2004 was also adjudged as the best paper. He won the best paper award in NAPCON 2007 held at PGI,Chandigarh for the paper “Echocardiographic evaluation of right heart parameters in COPDpatients”.
In his Medical career spreading over 23 years he has gained good expertise in successfully treating OPD and admitted critically ill patients with various diseases. He has handled a great majority of patients with infectious diseases and dengue cases.
He has vast experience and special interest in dealing with patients of endocrinology , Heart diseases, Rheumatology and with Male sexual health problems. He has also received training in critical care(at Chennai) and in Tuberculosis (at LRS institute , New Delhi). He is also active member of various medical societies like APICON, Indian chest society, Indian society of critical care and Indian society of Gastroenterology.
With the Blessing of Almighty he started “Bery Medical Center” in Ludhiana in Feb 2024 and is there forth working towards serving the community.
